Man What a Non-Run

By Darryl Hoytt on July 30, 2004 11:05 PM | 0 Comments

I went running today during lunch because of the cool temperatures and man had to cut my route short. My head started swimming a bit because of allergies. I usually just muscle through that stuff especially when I have a cool pace going. Today the pace was my fastest of the year so far but couldn't do the 6 mile run so only ran like 2 miles. I have multiple bail out points on my routes in case of injury, emergency etc.

This hasn't happened in about 2 years me starting a run and then not finishing the course I decided upon before starting. In my whole life I can remember the times it’s happened maybe slightly more than 5 but less than 10 and considering how frequently and how many miles I have run in my life that’s pretty good. Hell I ran a whole season of track with a stress fracture, probably should have stopped back then, lol oh well I've learned.

I'm still on track but I have to figure how to combat these allergies I haven't had a comfortable run the last couple of months because of allergies and I guess I didn't feel like fighting allergies and everything else that goes into a run today. This is when I really feel like moving out of the Sacramento valley with all of its allergens.

Allergy medicine affects the heart rate somewhat so I’m careful with it. I have been taking bee pollen but I’m going to have to find some local honey to start eating, that’s worked before. She’s gotta be cute and clean though! Just kidding I need honey from bees.

Tomorrow I'll tear into the course just because of what happened today!!
