Just a feel of the night of club hopping

By Darryl Hoytt on July 31, 2004 11:59 PM | 0 Comments

We did nothing spectacular just a little relaxation after a night on the town. We tried to bribe way into first club.... they were packed and bouncers wanted too much to grease their palms for what was being offered.

Went next door had some "Adios Amigos" (Long Island Ice Tea with Blue S@#$) and crashed a private party. Then hit a couple other clubs and got the grind on. I tried to behave myself....sorry I failed. Now I'm going to want to go out like I used to....all the time! The ladies were soooo nice!

Man What a Non-Run

By Darryl Hoytt on July 30, 2004 11:05 PM | 0 Comments

I went running today during lunch because of the cool temperatures and man had to cut my route short. My head started swimming a bit because of allergies. I usually just muscle through that stuff especially when I have a cool pace going. Today the pace was my fastest of the year so far but couldn't do the 6 mile run so only ran like 2 miles. I have multiple bail out points on my routes in case of injury, emergency etc.

This hasn't happened in about 2 years me starting a run and then not finishing the course I decided upon before starting. In my whole life I can remember the times it’s happened maybe slightly more than 5 but less than 10 and considering how frequently and how many miles I have run in my life that’s pretty good. Hell I ran a whole season of track with a stress fracture, probably should have stopped back then, lol oh well I've learned.

I'm still on track but I have to figure how to combat these allergies I haven't had a comfortable run the last couple of months because of allergies and I guess I didn't feel like fighting allergies and everything else that goes into a run today. This is when I really feel like moving out of the Sacramento valley with all of its allergens.

Allergy medicine affects the heart rate somewhat so I’m careful with it. I have been taking bee pollen but I’m going to have to find some local honey to start eating, that’s worked before. She’s gotta be cute and clean though! Just kidding I need honey from bees.

Tomorrow I'll tear into the course just because of what happened today!!

Fantasy Football

By Darryl Hoytt on July 29, 2004 11:26 PM | 0 Comments

I upgraded the Fantasy Football league to a pay league! This is the First time for this group of guys & gal(s) we played for a prize! We will have a small pay out and the league champion gets a plaque. This time it’s for a prize so we will see how focused people's attention span to the teams and happenings around the league plays out.

Last year was the most competitive and vocal group we had. We had lots of trash talk (that did not go overboard) and participation. We had more posts talking trash in a few weeks than in previous entire seasons. Now everyone is also a veteran of the Fantasy Football game. Most have been at it for several years and all know football and the players very well.

Let's get it on!

Normal Mid-Week Day

By Darryl Hoytt on July 28, 2004 11:23 PM | 0 Comments

Just cooled off today and just did nothing special after work. I didn’t even work out just getting prepared for the rest of the week.

Strength Of Character

By Darryl Hoytt on July 27, 2004 11:11 PM | 0 Comments

No one is perfect and yes you have to choose your fights but some people just don't have the character on an everyday basis and you wonder what fight they are saving up for. So many people dream of being a hero but they don't realize the opportunity when in front of them, these moments come from ordinary everyday beginnings. When a big fight comes they will be overwhelmed by that anyway.

All I'm saying is some people think showing strength is using phrases like 100% sure, I’m confident, I'm aggressive, I go out of my way to be different, I'm independent etc. When put in a situation of true raw aggression of mind, physical presence or emotion they fail which, happens to all but the true strength comes in standing back up admitting fallibility not ignoring it and really fight.

Bottom line I hate weak character & minds that stand for nothing but pretend otherwise. Just stand back listen to their whines and excuses then move them out of your life.

By the way what a great mellow night nice breeze mellow tunes relaxed mind and body with incense riding the currents of breeze.

Summer Time In The Valley HOT

Another hot July day right around the century mark!

Computer Room Moved!

By Darryl Hoytt on July 25, 2004 11:27 PM | 0 Comments

All the main components of the computer room are now moved back to the original computer room. Things went pretty much as expected. Moved the shelves and bookshelves first then the main user system, emptied rack of systems moved rack hook routers & hubs on rack, place systems back in rack BLAH!

Really only issue was that I forgot my Linux web servers "root" password. I had to go into single-user mode to wipe the password out and then change it when fully up. Oh and had to fix the motion detector for my alarm in that room and take apart and fix the KVM switch that has been lightly used but decided to start getting flaky when put to true use.

Now what happened to the clips that hold the window blinds up? :/

Now its time to weed out some of the things that do not add to the functionality of this computer room and store in the garage that has more room since I have been steadily moving things out of the garage then moving items from the other rooms to the garage, sorting through them and moving them out of the house for good!

I can feel my "feng shui" slowly creeping up on me! Time to get back to the time before I was buying and selling sooo much!

Then its party time! When that and other things are settled!

Computer Room Move

By Darryl Hoytt on July 24, 2004 10:27 PM | 0 Comments

This is why it took a lot of pondering and wringing of the hands before I moved my computer room back even though its best to go back to the original room! I have a lot of stuff!! Big HEAVY stuff, lots of little stuff that when boxed is really HEAVY.

I cannot believe I still have so much! I literally got rid of several truck loads and had garage sales!!

Anybody wants some nice HP-UX computers who lives in the Sacramento area or are prepared to pay shipping? Let me know I will start posting items for sale just as I used to do with my old website many moons ago!

Trying to get my Feng Shui together crap out of the house or whatever you want to call it!

Moving Computer Room

By Darryl Hoytt on July 23, 2004 10:55 PM | 0 Comments

I elected to move my computer room back to the original room. Finish baseboards move existing furniture out and the computer equipment in!! Started baseboards earlier this evening, costs prevent me from going all out on baseboards. I will move my rack that currently has most of my computers last, time to put my KVM switch to better usage as well as rack mounting my routers and hubs.

Paid The Price

By Darryl Hoytt on July 22, 2004 11:19 PM | 0 Comments

Stayed up late last night, not partying as in the past but ...lol.....finishing up reading a book which I do often when in an interesting section that late night made it a long lazy day for me.

What Happened To The Night Breeze??

By Darryl Hoytt on July 21, 2004 11:25 PM | 0 Comments

Was waiting for the nightly Delta breeze tonight and it never came.

The grilled steak, shrimp, fish & beer and bourbon was still kicking though!

Plus cooled off just enough, hey it’s the middle of the week!!

Then ended the night listening to a nice mix by yours truly sipping CBS @ http://www.dhoytt.com/whatson.html

No Movement, My Saturday Run

By Darryl Hoytt on July 17, 2004 11:15 PM | 0 Comments

Too much maintenance work around the house to do major project work!

I'm Back!!!! Took what used to be my customary long every other day run that digressed to a weekend run of 7.5 - 8 miles today and felt strong. The point is just not to finish but to finish strong so it does not negatively affect upcoming workouts. I was strong enough to do lots of yard work in 90 plus weather. I should hit weight workouts tomorrow just fine or another long run???

Then some late Courvoisier with company….shiiiiiooot!

To Move Or Not To Move??

By Darryl Hoytt on July 16, 2004 10:58 PM | 0 Comments

Trying to figure out which would be more expedient should I move the computer room back to the original room or keep it where it is. The other room provides more ventilation and is blocked from the hot summer sun plus the ISP's equipment is there......I have soooo much equipment in my computer room plus would have to time for minimum downtime of my webserver.....

I will work on this and the baseboards for the floors this weekend and/or move my main system to new case but will want to upgrade if I do that. The baseboards are costing as much as the flooring!

So much to do!

Contemplation

By Darryl Hoytt on July 15, 2004 11:06 PM | 0 Comments

Into some deep thought on many fronts I think I will go light some candles and fragrances and lie back on my rug in the den and just go into thought. The only thing I'm lighting are candles!... lol

Relax :)

By Darryl Hoytt on July 8, 2004 11:51 PM | 0 Comments

Allergies hit me hard today.....that’s it folks.

Just for those wondering I'm doing the entries everyday even though nothing significant may be happening to see the affects on the "MySQL" database.

I am also not putting down everything I do on any given day ;)....lol you thought I would!!!..... You silly goose!!!!

Mid-Week Stuff

By Darryl Hoytt on July 7, 2004 11:50 PM | 0 Comments

Had house alarm go off in the middle of last night early this morning or whatever you want to call that time but it was dark and I was sound asleep. The alarm went off after normal BC hours when you get your best sleep!
The alarm turned out to be a door left ajar blown open by the wind, but what a wake-up call. Could not even remember my code or find my phone when the alarm company called. I could not go back to sleep so started loading updates on one of my computer systems I just reloaded the OS on. That made me sleepy.

Right now adding more software I'm going to use on that system. I will make it a backup of my music server and some other uses I am mulling over.

Fantasy Football!!!

By Darryl Hoytt on July 6, 2004 11:58 PM | 0 Comments

I created this year’s version of the BDFL "Big Dogs Football League" today. Anyone who wants to join just leave a comment and let me know. I sent an email to all of last years players first. Hopefully everyone who played last year will want to continue. We had a very competitive and a lot of healthy trash talking that did not get out of hand but was sooo fun last year!
