Mellow Days Cool Nights

By Darryl Hoytt on June 30, 2004 10:54 PM | 0 Comments

The days have not been the normal scorchers for this time of the year. I have been able to use this mellow weather to run at times in the day I normally would not but I need to start training myself to run early again because I know this mellow weather will not last.

Had my strongest run of this period today!

Blew The Old Sytem Out

By Darryl Hoytt on June 29, 2004 11:35 PM | 0 Comments

Had a good lunch time run to blow the old system out, muscles, sweat pores and more.

Doing Stuff

By Darryl Hoytt on June 28, 2004 11:56 PM | 0 Comments

Restarted putting wood trim of floors down in front rooms. The stuff is really expensive and since I am trimming the whole house I put it off until I got a few more dollars. I am putting down baseboard as well as ¼ round trim in front of the baseboard so the floor really melts into the wall and looks whole. That is also why I picked up the new miter saw, which works great for getting the 45 degree angles in the corners. The trim may end up costing as much as the floor!
Started cutting and forgot a dust mask to cover my face when sawing the wood. I had forgotten how sick not wearing a mask while cutting the floors made me earlier in the year when I was sawing wood like crazy (put flooring in entire house) without a mask. Really took me down for over a month and slowed me down for longer than that. I was unable to run, work out or anything for a long while and was taking medication for a few months for that. So tomorrow I will pick up some dust masks and continue my sawing
I also picked first tomato of the year from my garden.

Sunday Tossed Salad Day

By Darryl Hoytt on June 27, 2004 11:06 PM | 0 Comments

Depleted baseboard materials from local Home Depot and then did stuff around the house and hit the pool! Had a nice dinner later, weeding the garden and some nice mellow music with feet in the pool and some wine.

Old Friends

By Darryl Hoytt on June 26, 2004 11:26 PM | 0 Comments

Went to a get together today and met up with some old neighborhood friends that I have not seen in a long while in a matter of fact had not seen some since we were kids.

Good to see people doing well and living right makes me feel good that people I know and hung out with when I was younger are productive in the community

Strange Day

By Darryl Hoytt on June 24, 2004 11:31 PM | 0 Comments

Could not get my laptop to login from home. As a matter of fact all I could do was login, then it just sat there. Went into the office to let them run OS rescue disk for XP. Doesn't tell you what it fixes but it works. I didn't have my backup system ready at home because I have been reloading and moving systems around without setting them back to their previous configurations.

Had a nice long late work-out that just ended. Now listening to some mellow music to relax and drinking juice with ice since I'm out of Gatorade.

What a nice night cool breeze and a crescent moon.

The Office

By Darryl Hoytt on June 23, 2004 11:25 PM | 0 Comments

I went into the office to work today for the first time in a while. Got one of the Sun systems up and going and checked on other equipment.

Slow Day...

By Darryl Hoytt on June 22, 2004 11:55 PM | 0 Comments

Piddling around Sunday

By Darryl Hoytt on June 20, 2004 11:55 PM | 0 Comments

Today did the normal Saturday things I didn't do yesterday because I was going from store to store yesterday. Things like mowing the lawn, laundry, cleaned the pool etc...
I tried to find a method to keep the wood trim pieces against the wall while I fastened the pieces of the trim against the wall.
Was surprised again.... lol .... the past comes back? Not sure what to do just yet.

Getting On Top of Projects

By Darryl Hoytt on June 19, 2004 11:07 PM | 0 Comments

I have purchased a compound Miter saw today @ Sears so I can finish my wood trim for my floors. The Miter saw will help me properly cut for the angles in the corners.
Also had surprise for me at the door after right after I finished assembling my saw and was about to do some practice cuts.
Maybe I will elaborate on the surprise at a later date.

Browsing Around Friday

Energy Level Rising

By Darryl Hoytt on June 17, 2004 11:42 PM | 0 Comments

The workouts have increased my overall energy level. Time to up the standard and really start upping the weights now that my body is responding!! Soon will be time to hit the 8 mile runs as well. I cannot wait until I get to the level I want so I can just maintain, I let it go too long without working out hard.

Work & Workouts

By Darryl Hoytt on June 16, 2004 11:07 PM | 0 Comments

Nothing special listened to people gloat about the Lakers lose and hit workout. Finally watched "X-2 X-Men United". I used to be a big comic book reader when I was younger.

Not Feeling Well Today and Lakers Lose Series

By Darryl Hoytt on June 15, 2004 10:06 PM | 0 Comments

Well I didn't feel well this morning maybe it was the late night swim. My ears were plugged and my voice was going and since I'm on the phone all day with customers that's not good so took the day off. Did do an early morning meeting but my voice really was gone! In the afternoon did some legal stuff since I cannot stand just laying back doing nothing plus seems like even though I pay people I have to do everything myself. Found some good information. People do not be sheep and believe things that don't make sense that’s why we are supposed to go with facts, let's be honest most people who believe they have great intuition .... do they really or are they just hitting 50% or less...be honest that’s why we have rules that need to be followed and should go with facts that stand logic.

Speaking of sense The Lakers lost the championship...they finally ran out of healthy bodies. I don’t want to hear about the Pistons being a great defensive team without the rules to allow zone defense and double teaming unguarded players you cannot compare their defense to defenses beyond 3 years ago!! Teams before the current zone defenses played true one on one defense the Pistons play “position defense" read "ZONE"!! The Bulls of the '90's had they been allowed to play zone defense with MJ!...Nuff Said!

The Pistons are the champs and deserve this but their defense is not the greatest ever just the best since they instituted zone defense a few years ago.

Muggy Monday

By Darryl Hoytt on June 14, 2004 11:03 PM | 0 Comments

Today was hot & muggy. Busy work day then went to dinner with family because of nieces b'day. Was cool and relaxing to get out of the house and no real pressure. I'm thinking about hitting the pool right now!! Turn on the pool lights that change colors and take a quick dip ... hmmmmm...... where are my trunks.

Sacramento weather: http://weather.yahoo.com/forecast/USCA0967_f.html

Like Usher says "YEAH"!! Playing on my station at this moment!!

Summer Weather I Love

By Darryl Hoytt on June 13, 2004 11:51 PM | 0 Comments

Did a nice slow workout in the heat of the garage today hitting the iron and bike with plenty of Gatorade by my side. The workout felt really good actually. Then did lawn and a bit of pool maintenance. I didn't do too much pool maintenances since I wanted to climb in will clean the filter in the next few days.

The Lakers look lost all except Shaq, he played great but received no offensive help though the Lakers did play good defense until the fourth quarter. Don't know what else to say but they look lost.

Very Interesting Day

By Darryl Hoytt on June 12, 2004 11:59 PM | 0 Comments

Went looking at home bars, tile, rugs etc.. Later had a very interesting time at dinner......hopefully things will move along well....what do I mean.....lol ...will reveal more later.

cool Friday

Went to a niece's graduation later in the day had a nice workout with weights in garage.

Workouts & Lakers?Pistons Series

By Darryl Hoytt on June 10, 2004 10:33 PM | 0 Comments

Lakers are getting out hustled plus the Pistons in most positions are more athletic. Phil Jackson stayed with a crippled Malone too long and that made Shaq cover for him and put Shaq in foul trouble. One game playing crippled may work but not when another team goes after you all game! A healthy Medevenko was right there.

I still believe the Lakers will bring it back to LA and get another championship!!

Workouts are going cool today was cardio. Did the bike and push-ups and stomach crunches. Yesterday I was sooo tired I forgot that you need more rest in the beginning of starting the type of harsh workouts I do. Tonight I will go to bed early. Early bed for me is before midnight.

Workouts on hit!!

By Darryl Hoytt on June 9, 2004 11:20 PM | 0 Comments

My garage is at the point where I can now go from one weight/workout station and hit the weights to the next in a steady flow to hit a whole body work out plus cardio on stationary bike or Nordi-Trak contraption.
On days like tomorrow where I don't hit the weights I will need to hit some extended cardio (at least 5 plus miles running on the streets or hit bike then Nordi-Trak) crunches and push-ups then the next day weights & cardio again...... Why do I let myself get out of shape...... Will be corrected in quick order though!!

BRING THE PAIN!! Time to hit the workout baby!!

Still need to move more things out of the house and garage. I have moved literally truck loads out of the house!

Didn't do too much technical except at work.

Typical Day

By Darryl Hoytt on June 8, 2004 10:54 PM | 0 Comments

Legal #@%* in the morning.
Worked during the day since I did WAH (work at home). Was able to go straight to the living room after work hours and get the beginning of the Lakers Pistons game.

The game was exciting ....too exciting wanted the Lakers to run away with the game but that did not happen. Kobe sent the game to overtime with another terrific clutch 3 pointer.

Game had me going so much during commercials and half-time had to find something to do so I played a few games of darts, 301 first and then cricket.

Shaq & Kobe showed why they have 3 championship rings when the game looked lost they scored the rest of the Laker points. Incredible focus and fortitude.

Luke Walton came in and helped open up the flow with his great passes and defense even though supposedly he was over matched physically. I think Shaq loves Luke because he knows how to feed Shaq the ball in scoring position. Actually he set up Kobe really nice a few times too...

Malone played great defense even though he could barely move. Fisher was a bulldog as usual.

Detroit played really smart and almost pulled this off. The Lakers need to stop fouling Billups!! That guy doesn't miss free throws.

GP has been a bit off but we have to remember he was the only Laker to play every game and the Lakers would not be here without him!! Plus in the previous series after the second game he's been money!

The Lakers need to stay focused on every possession and play smart like they know how to win the series.... I could go on about the game but will leave that to the sportswriters.

Monday :) :(

By Darryl Hoytt on June 7, 2004 11:49 PM | 0 Comments

Just another Monday had a little stomach ache that plagued me off an on this weekend. Been skipping too many meals probably. I think its time to up my work-out tempo. I never really stop totally working out just the frequency is less sometimes depending on what I have going on.

Gonna start my heavy duty burn work outs. A lot of people think they get out of shape because of age but more likely because of the accumulation of not doing exercise or eating right over long periods. Hey, thats the only reasons I get out of shape, even with injury there are things you can do.

I have my excuses too ;)...they just aren't legit reasons not to work out...time to hit the work-outs hard this week!!

Lakers & Pistons Kick-Off NBA Finals

By Darryl Hoytt on June 6, 2004 8:49 AM | 0 Comments

Any of you who know me a bit know I'm a big L.A. sports fans. Laker, Dodgers, Rams (formerly LA), Raiders (well Cali and briefly LA), USC, UCLA.

Just have to say one thing getting my work-out in today relax a bit and then kick back and watch Kobe & Shaq go for championship ring number four.

GO LAKERS!!!!

Chill Day

By Darryl Hoytt on June 5, 2004 10:41 PM | 0 Comments

So Many Features

By Darryl Hoytt on June 4, 2004 8:52 AM | 0 Comments

I am finding that this blog software has many features. Being this is my first introduction to using and maintaining a blog, its quite the experience.

I am going through turning features on and off as I figure what each feature actually performs.

Also thinking of putting this webserver on both of my LAN's to better upload files from my other systems on the other LAN or maybe just make my other system a bridge that is on both networks......hmmmm.

Starting Blog Officially

By Darryl Hoytt on June 3, 2004 12:04 AM | 0 Comments

I have had the Blog up and running for a while after moving my website first from my ISP's webserver. I had to move off of their server because I was constantly updating my song information too frequently from my music server in an environment where others shared the bandwidth.
I then tried getting this Blog up and running on HPUX which is not yet supported and thus did not work. This caused an issue since I had my apache webserver running on my HP-UX server. I decided to move my webserver to a Linux system because of this.
I had to reload Linux on one of my other systems and get apache running on then switch over when satisfied it was serving up web pages properly. I also like to know I can recover quickly so I really wanted to have a good feel for this Linux system and where and what everything was doing. I also had to get a separate router to keep my packets for the webserver going to the proper static ip address for webcasting and streaming my music.
While this was all going on I moved my music server off of my main system and built a Dual Xeon 2.4 system with 1gb of RAM and of course nothing but SCSI drives to improve the performance and eliminate lag when manually manipulating the playlists while streaming the music.
Whew, I had to convert a rack-mounted case designed for hot swap SCSI 50 pin hard drives that had 2 separate power supplies. I had to saw and bend metal, drill curse, rewire molex power plugs etc..and curse and bleed some more!!

I then had to go through all of the steps of setting up this Blog and "MYSQL" which stores and archives blog comments.

For those of you keeping track yes I have two systems for this operation. The web server is running Linux Fedora1 core. The music server is running Windows XP so I can use some DJ mixing software that I also use to stream the music.

Keep coming back as I get time I will do more and really polish this site. I am looking at other methods of streaming. I will focus more on aesthetics but I first prefer to have the technical portion operating well. I'm sure in a few months I would have some major and minor tweaks and little behind the scenes will be the same!

hmmm... still learning the front end and the back end of the blog soooo....

Right now just having a lot of fun doing this!!
